Chaperone Policy
A Chaperone Policy sets out the commitment of the practice to respect patients’ dignity, privacy, and comfort during clinical examinations or procedures that may be considered intimate or sensitive. Its purpose is to ensure that patients are offered the option of having a trained chaperone present, providing reassurance, safeguarding both the patient and healthcare professional, and promoting a safe and respectful environment. The policy outlines when a chaperone should be offered, the role and responsibilities of the chaperone, and the process for documenting the offer and the patient’s decision, ensuring transparency, accountability, and high standards of care at all times.
